Pieper Houston Electric is Hiring an Electrical Apprentice (Construction) Near Houston, TX

 

The Apprentice will safely work under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician and is expected to learn all aspects of the electrical trade with aspirations of becoming a licensed Journeyman Electrician. The training and development of this role consist of successful completion of OSHA 10 and electrical safety training, learning electrical theory, state and local electrical codes, how to read blueprints, field device layout, and how to install cable and raceways. Job responsibilities: May include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Strick adherence to Pieper safety policies as well as complying with the safety policies of Pieper’s industry partners.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
  • Read interprets, and executes drawings, schematics, blueprints and NEC and specifications to see and plan layout of commercial electrical equipment installations; as training and skills warrant.
  • Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
  • Performs switchgear installation and terminations; as training and skills warrant.
  • Test electrical equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage and resistance; as training and skills warrant. Installs, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and line assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts in both AC and DC systems; as training and skills warrant.
  • May troubleshoot and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment; as training and skills warrant.
  • Performs semi-skilled and minor skilled tasks that are ancillary to primary job duties
  • Adhere to PHE’s attendance policy
  • Performs related work as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Active TDLR Electrical Apprentice License
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime as required.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug test
  • Ability to sufficiently communicate with individuals at all levels within the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner.
  • Interact appropriately with co-workers and supervisors in a professional manner that contributes positively to the team environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as job demands.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be willing to actively participate in the company wide Health and Safety plan.
  • Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, equipment and materials, etc.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to Identify and separate wires by color.
  • Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Be able to climb several flights of stair or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Engineered Controls vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
  • Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to establish and maintain safe effective working relationships as necessitated by the work.
  • Strong communication written and verbal; English/Spanish bi-lingual is preferred
